Mac Os 10.8.5 Upgrade
So I ran software update and selected just the 10.5.8 update to download. I made sure that no programs were running, and went ahead with the process. The update finished downloading and asked me to click restart, which I did. The update bar then showed the various items being installed. When the installation was complete, the screen went blue and the pinwheel came up. The screen stayed like this for a good 20 minutes after which I manually turned off the machine by holding down the power button. I waited a minute, then turned the machine back on. It started up, made the mac sound, and then restarted by itself (I wasn't exactly paying attention to what was going on on the screen at this point). After this restart it booted up normally into leopard and I'm seeing that my version is now 10.5.8.
Any ideas what went wrong, if anything? Also, should I do a permissions repair just to be on the safe side? Did anyone else have a similar experience so far?
Thanks!
Sorry, forgot to add system specifics:
MacBook Pro early 2008 version
the only external peripheral that was connected at the time was a microsoft mouse (usb, wired)
come to think of it I believe I was also connected via bluetooth to my mobile phone at the time of update
