Epson v600 vs v700: Scan quality
Epson Perfection v600
Scanning resolution is up to 6400dpi. It can scan photos, documents and pretty much everything, convert scanned documents into editable text — ABBYY® FineReader® Sprint Plus OCR, but that is just one of the special features… A real deal maker is the Digital ICE light. That enables you to scan old films and photos and get amazing quality. It reduces scratches, dust and the damage that time did to those films and negatives. Even if you are not satisfied with the results, a provided software solution, in the form of Easy Photo Fix can be of great help. You can choose between one-button-restore function, or customize the whole process.
The downside is that Digital ICE, when used, significantly slows down the scanning process. What speeds up the process is ReadyScan technology. It enables scanning to start right away, with no warm-up time needed.
To make scanning films easier, some film and negative holders are provided. Unfortunately, some rare and older formats are not supported, so you will have to come with some interesting solutions to stop them from curling while scanning.
Epson Scan V700 Software Mac 10
The users are very satisfied with the quality of photos scan, and especially with the film and negative scans. No major complaints are recorded.
Epson Perfection v700
Slightly newer, but much more expensive, so it is natural that it has more advanced features than the Epson v600.This scanner has The Dual lens system, which swaps between 6400dpi for slides and film, and 4800dpi for photos. This enables it to achieve much better scanning results.
Epson v700 is also equipped with Digital ICE technology for scanning old films and photos but not only that. It is backed up by Dynamic range function, 4.0 DMax optical density and SilverFast SE8 software that can accurately reproduce tonal range and gradation of the source photo or film.
It is worth mentioning again, that Digital ICE, when operational, significantly slows down the scanning process. ReadyScan technology enables scanning to start right away, with no warm-up time needed.
As far as the film holders are concerned, there is a film holder for up to four 35mm film strips with 6 pictures each (thus max. 24 pictures), one for up to 12 framed 35mm slides, one for up to two medium format film strips (à 3 pictures 4.5×6 and 6×6 and/or 2 pictures 6×7 to 6×9), and one for up to two 4×5 inch flat films
Epson Perfection v600
This somewhat older model connects to the computer via Hi-Speed USB 2.0 cable, and no wireless connection is possible. It does have shortcuts for the scan to be sent by email or transferred as PDF.
Problems can occur with Mac OS. Installation for the scanner is not provided, you will have to download it. Some problems can appear. One of them is that you cannot start to scan and then open another program on your computer. The scanning app will often go to sleep unless it is up front and you are moving the mouse.

Epson v600 vs v700: Size and design

Epson Perfection v700
The main target of the Epson Perfection V700 is photo enthusiasts and advanced amateur photographers. So it is easily concluded that the better features and performance will come with the larger price. Final Verdict
This is a victory for the Epson Perfection v700. But the battle may have been an unfair one. Epson v600 and v700 are not really intended for the same audience. While the Epson v600 will satisfy most of the needs, if not all of them, of an average user, the v700 is marketed for more experienced and demanding users, ambitious amateurs, aspiring professionals.
